ABOUT SAOIRSE
Since coming together in 2006, this dynamic group has firmly established themselves as one of Melbourne’s premier Celtic/Folk bands. Although their roots are based in traditional Irish music, they enjoy and engage with many other styles and genres. Singing in Ireland’s ancient Gaelic language and in English, they’re harmonies soar to the heavens and the group are ever evolving, expanding on their world music component. With the addition of their own material, songs and tunes, they strive to bring something unique and most importantly, entertaining, to every performance.

Audiences will experience a little bit off everything during a performance; heart wrenching love songs, beautiful ballads, hand clapping/toe tapping Jig’s, Reel’s and Polkas, and even some feisty Irish step dancing to get the heart’s pumping. The band released their third CD, ‘Music Evermore’ in 2013, which received the 2013/2014 Australian Celtic Music Awards for both Album and Song of the Year. They also have two previous releases; ‘Candlelight Sessions’ and ‘Singin’ in the Scullery’.

2014 saw Saoirse performing at many festivals including the Port Fairy Folk Festival, Brunswick Music Festival, the National Celtic Festival, Maldon, Glen Innes, Echuca Moama and the Tullamore Celtic Festivals. 2015 is shaping up to be just as wonderfully busy with the band booked for many of the same music venues and festivals for 2015.
2015 also brings an exciting addition to the band in the form of musician extraordinaire; Damien Neill. Damien is an exceptionally talented and experienced musician and we are delighted to have his wonderful sounds, skills and groove in the band.
