'Raw Honey' Album Launch

w/ eleven

The Satellite Lounge are very excited to have The Badloves perform this coming October. The night will see the band launch their new live album ‘Raw Honey’, available for purchase on the night the band will be signing copies too!
The Badloves hit debut album ‘Get On Board’ spent a massive 69 weeks in the charts, peaked at number 5 and went double platinum; delivering 5 hit singles in, Lost, Memphis, I Remember, The Weight (w Jimmy Barnes), Memphis and Green Limousine. After extensive tours in Australia and Europe, The Badloves released their second album in 1995, Holy Roadside to critical acclaim, further ARIA nominations, and another string of hit singles in Slave, Barefoot Bride, Living Thing and Caroline, establishing them as one of this country’s premier acts. Kicking off the night will be Melbourne Indie band eleven, so be sure to get in early!

The Badloves both continue and extend the grand tradition of such music, pushing out a sound that would have seemed quite at home at Muscle Shoals in 1967, while remaining as fresh and original as tomorrow. They are already a part of Australian music history having become a household name and influencing a generation of musicians and music lovers. Inspired by the past, The Badloves are a band that’s very much focused on the future… ‘It feels like we’re starting again’, Michael smiles. ‘Which is very exciting’.

Hearing the forthcoming debut album from Melbourne three-piece eleven, it’s apparent that the band offers the type of music that normally only emerges when bands have really hit their stride both musically and as songwriters. But eleven isn’t your typical indie debut act. The three members  – Michael Jacobs (guitar & vocals), Fabian Bucci (drums) and Peter Curigliano (bass) – have been playing in various bands around Melbourne for many years.

When rehearsing at Brunswick’s Wick Studios (in Room 11) Jacobs’ passionate and powerful songs and the band’s big, melodic, catchy, rock sound caught the ear of Wick’s production team. “I don’t think it was planned”, explains Jacobs. “Once we started recording it sort of grew. In fact, many of the songs were written during the recording period – so it did happen very much organically rather than as a predetermined project.”eleven’s music is an evolved blend of layered guitar rock, classic melodies, British influences like Oasis, Snow Patrol and Stereophonics, American bands like Cheap Trick, Goo Goo Dolls and even Kiss and Australian icons such as Midnight Oil and The Church, blended with an interesting under-current of European rock.

For now the plan is to release the band’s album sometime over the Australian summer and there’s already interest in some of the songs in the US and Europe – something the band is eager to pursue. Live shows are also on the agenda. Now that the band is in motion and momentum is building there’s a sense of destiny about this outfit and their music.
